Regulators of online gaming in New Jersey ruled that PokerStars dispose of any outstanding balances of players who reside within the state. According to of the PocketFives Community, players are already hearing from PokerStars in regards to outstanding balances.
Players who have funds that are unclaimed and reside in the state have been ed via email by PokerStars which reads that since receiving approval by state gaming regulators, PokerStars wants to provide the player with the opportunity to obtain funds, as they anticipate being able to offer real-money online gaming again soon.
To claim the money, no matter the amount, players must email PokerStars at @pokerstars.net. A letter can be sent in the mail as well as going to the office in Atlantic City to take care of the balance. The email stated that PokerStars is required to make a ‘diligent attempt’ to renew with the player. If is not renewed, PokerStars must transfer the to the custody of the state. The state will retain the funds until the player makes a claim to the state. The state will then have to pay interest when the funds have been returned.
Players who do not claim funds by ing PokerStars by the 28th of December will see their funds transferred to the state. To gain access to the funds at this point, players will have to submit a claim with the New Jersey Unclaimed Property Department to be able to reclaim the funds based on the New Jersey Uniform Unclaimed Property Act.
Poker players who received the email believe that PokerStars may not be operating in New Jersey until 2016 since the date for the funds to be transferred is within the final days of the year.
